Mailing Lists and References

One of the mailing lists I'm on that is VERY informative is a Midwife list. To subscribe, send an email to midwife . Put the word "SUBSCRIBE" in the body without the quotes, and nothing in the subject. I don't post much as far as giving out advice but I do ask questions now and again and the midwives on the list are always very quick to give helpful answers and suggestions.

I'm also on an apprentice list. There are a few midwives on the list too but most of us are all in the same boat...striving to get to the finish line. To subscribe send an email to apprentice. Make sure you put the word "SUBSCRIBE" in the body without the quotes, and nothing in the subject.

I also started a CNM list. Onelist hosts the server and there are already over 20 subscribers (not as many subscribers as the other lists but hey, you gotta start somewhere). To join, click below.

Another list that I love is the ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) list. The primary topic is women who have had cesarean sections and are striving for a VBAC/HBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean/homebirth after cesarean). Some women are even there to educate themselves on how to AVOID a c-section. To subscribe, send an email to ICAN and put "SUBSCRIBE" in the body, without the quotes and nothing in the subject.

I also receive a publication of the Online Birth Center called Online Birth Center News. It comes out electronically every Tuesday of the week...very convenient. Topics include news, information and announcements. To subscribe to the OBCnews send an email to OBCnews and put "SUBSCRIBE OBCnews and your name" in the body, without the quotes and nothing in the subject. Example-subscribe obcnews Jane Smith.

There's a magazine called Midwifery Today that you should take a look at. A quarterly journal for midwives, nurses, doulas, childbirth educators, doctors, parents, parents-to-be, and anyone who wants to learn more about pregnancy, labor, and birth.
